There’s Someone Here to Interview You One of the best ways to differentiate your company from your competition in your newsletter or marketing materials is through a published interview. Record a question and answer session in which you or someone else in your company answers general and specific questions about your company, your products and services. Why an Interview? Because interviews give a face and a “voice” of a real person to your company – don’t forget to run a photograph of the interviewee with the interview. Such an interview removes the anonymous feeling many people have when they read so much of the marketing materials they receive in the mail or see on television or online. Even if your a company is made up of just one person, using an interview format is still a good way to connect with your audience. The one-to-one connection you make with an interview can only be duplicated by a face-to-face meeting or a video presentation. Don’t Stop with Just One Consider running a new interview in each edition of your newsletter. If you offer more than one service, do an interview explaining each service. If you have more than one product or product line, do an interview on each when it’s practical. Your regular readers will start looking forward to reading your next interview, and new readers will want to read older interviews. Why Use a Professional Interviewer The first and best reason is that when a “stranger” is asking you questions about your business, you’re more likely to give spontaneous, fresh sounding answers. Another good reason to hire an outside interviewer is that he or she will ask questions you hadn’t thought of. Some of these unforeseen questions and your answers might not make the final cut, but many will, and these questions and your answers may turn out to be the most important to your readers. Most of us take on the business were in like a second nature. In that way, we know “too much” and most of it remains unspoken. A professional interviewer starts out new. The professional interviewer experiences a steep learning curve when preparing for your interview. The value of this approach is that he or she is likely to cut to the chase in many areas and get the most important information from you – information your readers and potential customers also want. Professionals know how to get the information that you want to see in an interview, and they also know how to make you sound smart and intelligent. All good reasons for hiring a professional to conduct your next interview, don’t you think?
